Mercedes-AMG has announced pricing of its sports car, the GT R:
$157,995 before all applicable taxes. The 577-hp max-attack GT R may
sit at the summit of AMG performance, but its MSRP exactly matches that
of the somewhat less intense, and more suntan-friendly, GT C roadster.
With the GT R numbers now out, we can survey the entire landscape of AMG GT
pricing so interested buyers can know which model to ask for, based on
the size of their bonus and their desired level of intensity. The 2018
AMG GT coupe is the gateway model, at $113,395 (or find a 2017 version
on the lot and save $1200). The AMG GT roadster is $125,395 (a relative
bargain next to the AMG SL63, at $152,275). Stepping up from the 469-hp
GT to the 515-hp GT S coupe requires $133,395. For the moment, at least,
there is no roadster version of the S, so next up is the GT C coupe,
with 550 horsepower, for $145,995; its roadster variant is $157,995, same as the racy GT R coupe.
